2 DIY projects for the weekend

So, today I just felt an urge for some DIY projects. And even though it’s breaking my norm of two posts a week; I decided to share my ideas as a little bonus for this week.

When I get a crazy urge like this, I tend to get consumed and obsessed by that thought – one of the reasons I am such a series binge-watcher. The problem is though that I gather so many ideas of things I want to try that I don’t have enough time to get to all of them.

Anyways, here are a few projects that I want to try over the weekend:

DIY for the house:

Since I currently work on a wine estate I have access to A LOT of wine corks – I mean I problem have 100’s just next to my desk. So I want to make some trivets out of old corks. I want to make four of them, the same size as my stove burners so that I can put the trivets on the burner (obviously when it’s not in use, and is cold) so that I have some extra usable space in the kitchen, without hurting my burners.

What I’ll need:

  • Wine corks
  • Craft Glue
  • Wax paper (cut into rounds the same size as my burners)

I found a great DIY trivet over on Design Sponge, I love the design they used. However the stitching methods seemed like a lot of work to me – so I’ll see how long a glue-ing method lasts and take it from there.

DIY (craft) for the kids:

Lately Zoey has been begging me to paint, so I am thinking of helping her with nice, fun art project. I’ve been seeing numerous pins and posts on foam paint. These look so cool, and I know Zoey will just love doing a project like this.

And; best of all; we’re spending tomorrow with Zoey Artsy grandmother – so I’m sure she will enjoy doing the project with us!

What I’ll need:

  • Plastic bags
  • Shaving cream
  • Glue
  • Food coloring
  • Card Stock (too paint on)

I really loved the instructions over on Paging Fun Moms, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I’m looking forward to seeing Zoey and my creations.
